1. Our Commitment

Helix Biowellness is committed to ensuring that our website, our digital communications, and our Galveston, Texas clinic are accessible to people with disabilities. We believe everyone should be able to learn about our wellness Services, schedule an appointment, and engage with our practice with dignity and independence. We work continuously to improve accessibility and usability for all visitors, patients, and members of the public.

This Accessibility Statement reflects our policy and ongoing efforts to comply with applicable accessibility laws and recognized standards.

2. Standards We Strive to Meet

Website (digital accessibility). We aim to conform our website to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is widely recognized as the technical benchmark for web accessibility under U.S. and international law. We monitor updates to WCAG (including 2.2) and incorporate improvements as our platform evolves.

Federal and state law. We work to comply with applicable accessibility laws, including:

  • Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (42 U.S.C. §§ 12181 et seq.) and its implementing regulations, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability by places of public accommodation;
  • Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (42 U.S.C. § 18116) and its implementing regulations at 45 C.F.R. Part 92, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability by certain health programs and activities and require effective communication;
  • the Texas Human Resources Code, Chapter 121 (Participation in Social and Economic Activities by Persons with Disabilities); and
  • other applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

3. Measures We Take

To support these commitments, Helix Biowellness:

  • includes accessibility considerations in the design, development, and procurement of our website and digital tools;
  • conducts periodic internal accessibility reviews of our website using a combination of automated scans and manual testing with assistive technologies;
  • provides accessibility orientation to staff who create or maintain web content, marketing material, and patient-facing communications;
  • maintains alternative-text on meaningful images and descriptive labels on form fields where reasonably feasible;
  • builds pages with semantic HTML, proper heading structure, sufficient color contrast, and keyboard-operable navigation; and
  • prioritizes the remediation of accessibility issues that block a person with a disability from accessing core functions such as service information, appointment booking, and contact methods.

4. Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

Our website is designed to be compatible with current versions of widely used browsers and screen readers, including:

  • Browsers: the latest two major versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari;
  • Screen readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), and TalkBack (Android);
  • Operating systems: current versions of Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

The website is also designed to be operable using a keyboard alone, and to support user-controlled adjustments to text size, contrast, and zoom. Some features may not perform as expected on outdated browsers, third-party plug-ins, or unsupported assistive technologies; we recommend keeping your software up to date.

5. Known Limitations

We are continuously working to improve accessibility, but we recognize that some content on our website may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations may include, for example:

  • third-party content embedded in our pages (such as social-media feeds, video players, financing-application widgets from Cherry or CareCredit, online scheduling tools, mapping tools, or chat widgets) that we do not control;
  • archived blog posts, PDFs, or images that pre-date our current accessibility standards; and
  • complex interactive content that is in the process of being remediated.

When we identify accessibility issues, we work in good faith to fix them on a timely basis or to provide an accessible alternative. We welcome reports of accessibility barriers from the public so we can address them quickly.

6. Auxiliary Aids and Effective Communication (In-Clinic)

In addition to our digital accessibility efforts, we provide reasonable accommodations and auxiliary aids and services to ensure effective communication with patients and visitors with disabilities at our Galveston clinic, consistent with the ADA and Section 1557. These may include:

  • accessible parking and an accessible entrance;
  • printed materials in large print upon request;

  • coordination with sign-language or other interpreters where reasonable advance notice is given;
  • modified appointment times or formats to accommodate disability-related needs where clinically appropriate; and
  • service-animal accommodation in accordance with applicable law.
