FAQ

Intravenous hydration therapy — common questions

How fast will I feel better?

Most people notice the nausea easing first — often before the bag is finished — with the headache and the general sense of doom lifting over the following hour or two. It's not instant and anyone promising you a switch-flip is overselling. But it is meaningfully faster than water and time, which is the actual comparison. Individual results vary.

How quickly can I get in?

Call 409.498.5011 as early as you can rather than assume same-day. Saturday mornings in Galveston are not a quiet time for us, and 9am–2pm on a Saturday is the busiest we get.

Should I really be paying $199 when water is free?

If you have a whole day to lie down, drink water and lie down. The drip is worth it when time is the thing you don't have — a flight, a wedding, a ship that leaves at four, a workday that won't reschedule itself. And if you can't keep water down, the comparison stops being water versus IV and becomes IV versus nothing.

I'm sailing today. Is there time?

We're at 2424 Mechanic St, minutes from the cruise terminal, and a drip runs about 45–60 minutes. Call before you head over — Mon–Fri 9am–5pm CST, Sat 9am–2pm CST, closed Sunday. If your ship leaves Sunday afternoon, Saturday is your window, and we'd rather you know that now than discover it at the door.

Is it safe if I've been drinking?

You'll be screened by a provider before anything is placed, and that screening is not a formality — it's how we find the people who shouldn't have a line placed today. If something in your history or your presentation rules it out, we'll tell you and you won't be charged for a drip you didn't get. We turn people away. That's the job.

Do you take walk-ins on a Saturday?

Sometimes, but don't count on it. Saturday 9am–2pm is our busiest window by a distance, and the people who get seen are overwhelmingly the ones who called. Fifteen seconds on the phone at 409.498.5011 beats twenty minutes of hope.

The details

Intravenous hydration therapy, in full

We’re not going to be precious about this

You’re on your phone, you feel terrible, and you want to know two things: what it costs and how fast you can get in.

$199. Zofran included if indicated. 2424 Mechanic St. Call 409.498.5011.

The rest of this page is for after you’ve called.

Why a hangover is a hangover

Useful to know, because it explains why the drip works and why water sometimes doesn’t.

Alcohol suppresses vasopressin, which is the hormone telling your kidneys to hold onto water. So you don’t just fail to hydrate — you actively shed fluid and, with it, electrolytes. Meanwhile your liver is working through a metabolite significantly less pleasant than the alcohol itself, and your gut is inflamed and in no mood to absorb anything you try to put in it.

That last part is the crux. The standard advice — drink water — assumes a gut willing to cooperate. When you can’t keep anything down, the delivery route is the problem, and an IV is a route that doesn’t ask your stomach for permission.

What’s in the drip

Hangover Relief — $199. Fluid and electrolytes to correct what you lost. Vitamins to support what your liver is grinding through. And Zofran if indicated — the anti-nausea piece, included rather than tacked on at the chair.

Common add-ins at $30 each if you want them: magnesium, B-complex, glutathione, NAC, mineral blend. Ask — if you don’t need them, we’ll say so.

The cheaper option we’re happy to recommend

Hydrate — $99.

If it was a long night rather than a catastrophic one, and the main problem is that you’re a raisin, this is frequently enough. It’s the cheapest thing on our menu. We recommend it regularly, to people who came in ready to spend $199, because it’s often the right call.

Galveston-specific logistics

We’re at 2424 Mechanic St — minutes from the Strand and minutes from the cruise terminal, which is not a coincidence.

Hours: Mon–Fri 9am–5pm CST · Sat 9am–2pm CST · Sun closed.

Read that Sunday line twice if you’re sailing. If your ship leaves Sunday afternoon and last night was Saturday night, we are not open, and no amount of wishing changes it. Saturday morning is your window — call ahead, because 9am–2pm on a Saturday is the busiest we get.

The screening isn’t a formality

You will be assessed by a provider before a line is placed, and some people get told no. Certain cardiac, renal, and other considerations genuinely rule this out, and “but I already drove here” isn’t a clinical argument.

We’d rather turn you away than proceed. That’s the difference between a medical clinic and a service that shows up with a bag.

And the unwelcome part

If you’re on this page more than a few times a year, the drip is the wrong conversation.

We’re a longevity practice. We’re not going to build a business on selling you the same Saturday morning indefinitely and never mentioning it. If the hangovers are a pattern, come talk to us about the pattern — functional labs and a physician-guided conversation will do more for you than any number of $199 bags.

That said: it’s Galveston, you’re on vacation, and it’s Saturday. Call 409.498.5011.
