HydraFacial — common questions
Does the extraction step hurt?
No — and this surprises people who've had a traditional extraction facial. There's no squeezing and no fingernails. The handpiece uses vortex suction, so the sensation is closer to a small, cool vacuum tracking across your skin. Congested areas feel a little more insistent than clear ones. That's the extent of it.
How soon before an event should I book?
Three to five days is the sweet spot. Same-day is genuinely possible — this is one of the few treatments where that's true — but a few days lets any pinkness settle and gives the hydration time to fully express itself. The night before a wedding is fine. The morning of is a small gamble.
I have active breakouts. Should I wait?
Usually not — congestion and mild active acne are exactly what the extraction step is designed for. What we'd pause for is anything inflamed, open, or actively infected. Send us a note or tell us at check-in and your provider will make the call rather than push through.
How long does the glow last?
Most clients report five to seven days of that particular lit-from-within look, with the underlying hydration and clarity lasting longer. It's genuinely a treatment that rewards rhythm — monthly clients see a steadier baseline than people who come once before a wedding and vanish. Individual results vary.
Is it worth it if my skin is already in good shape?
That's arguably the best case for it. HydraFacial is a maintenance treatment more than a rescue treatment. Skin that's already healthy responds fast and holds the result longer.

The forty-five minutes
You come in off Mechanic Street, which in August means you arrive already slightly defeated by the humidity. You lie down. Someone turns the lights low. And then, for the next forty-five minutes or so, nothing is asked of you.
That’s the part people don’t put in the brochure, and it’s half of why this treatment has the following it does. The other half is that it works.
Step one — cleanse and exfoliate
The first pass lifts dead surface cells and the film that the island leaves on all of us: salt, sunscreen, whatever the Gulf breeze was carrying. This is the step that makes everything after it possible. Skin can’t take up a serum through a layer of debris, and no amount of expensive product at home fixes that as efficiently as a proper resurfacing pass does.
Step two — extract
Here’s where the Syndeo earns its place. Suction, not pressure. The handpiece draws congestion out of the pore rather than forcing it out, which is why you leave without the blotchy, worked-over look that a manual extraction facial can give you.
Your provider adjusts settings as they move — firmer through a congested T-zone, lighter across thin skin at the cheeks and around the eyes. It’s the same treatment, calibrated three or four different ways across one face. That’s what “individualized” means in practice, and it’s the difference between a HydraFacial that impresses you and one that doesn’t.
Step three — hydrate
Peptides, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid go in while the skin is at its most receptive — which is exactly why the order matters. This is the step you feel afterward: the plumpness, the bounce, the way your skin suddenly seems to be holding onto something.
And then the part most places charge you for
Red-light therapy to finish, then Jan Marini medical-grade products applied before you leave. Both included. Not a tier, not an upsell, not a conversation at the chair while you’re lying down and least able to say no.
When to reach for the Platinum
Extended extractions, lymphatic drainage, and a booster. Reach for it when your skin is genuinely congested and forty-five minutes of extraction isn’t enough; when you’re puffy and want the drainage; or when you have one specific thing you want targeted. Otherwise the standard treatment is the standard for a reason.
How to put this treatment to work
The mistake is treating a HydraFacial as an event. Book it before the wedding, glow, disappear for eleven months.
The clients whose skin visibly changes are the ones who put it on a monthly rhythm and let it compound — one treatment roughly per skin-turnover cycle, so each one starts from a better baseline than the last.
